Second attempt we downed him. On to Rotface, after several attempts on him we ran out of raid time. We will be back for more attempts on Sunday night at 8pm!

Raid Night
Wrath of the Lich KingTuesday night LoK showed up for Icecrown Citadel (25 player), no DCs, no Lag, we were finally able to push through the first wing with no problems. I was able to get a screenshot after we one-shotted the Gunship Battle since Blizzard finally fixed the docking bug. I changed the strat for Deathbringer Saurfang and we were able to down him get him down with no problem. A couple more weeks until the week new wing opens!! Tuesday night 9pm, be there for our next Icecrown Citadel (25 player) raid!

A few snapshots from the last two fights.

Raid Night
Wrath of the Lich KingSince Tuesday night was raiding hell, we rescheduled our Icecrown Citadel (25 player) to Sunday night. LoK showed up in true form against Lord Marrowgar and downed him in one shot. We got a handle on ad control on Lady Deathwhisper and down her, too. With great momentum we headed to the Gunship Battle, and blew that enemy ship out of the sky first try. Then LoK met a boss it couldn't down, the Blizzard Bug Boss. The ship bugged in midair and we had to die to get off. We ran out of raid time learning the Deathbringer Saurfang fight and will be picking it up tonight.

"KILL THOSE BONE SPIKES, ALL DPS!!!" "IS THAT DAMN MANA BARRIER DOWN YET??" "OH SHIT, I FELL OFF THE BOAT!!"

LoK is again on the cutting edge of new content. Snapshots below from the two fights that didn't bug out when we finished them.

Raid Night
Wrath of the Lich KingWell Lok, ICC was released Tues and of course patch day was horrible. DCs, Login Failures, AddOns breaking. It made raiding on Tues basically impossible. We ran our guild's Icecrown Citadel (10 player) through the first wing and was able to clear it!!

"HOLY SHIT I AM FLYING WITH A JETPACK!!" "DON'T LET THE ADS TOUCH ANYONE!!""28 DAYS UNTIL THE NEW WING, WTF!!!"

It still felt awesome getting the content down. We also had another group clear it on Thurs night that was a guild/non-guild mixed group. So congrats to them as well! We will pick up on Icecrown Citadel (25 player) on Sunday night so make sure you are there!

3.3 Raiding Schedule
Wrath of the Lich King
With 3.3 expected to drop this Tues, we want to communicate our new raid schedule and updates for ICC.

3.3 Guild Raids:
25 Man, Tues, 9-12pm, led by Thatguyd
10 Man, Sun, 6pm, led by TurboJack
10 Man, Sun, 8:30pm, led by Thatguyd

We will be using the same DKP system we used for ToC and 25 ICC will be the raid using it.  All current ToC DKP will be chopped by 50% for carryover into ICC.

BOE patterns and crafting mats that drop will be looted to Avend to be sold on AH, put the in guild bank, and used for guild raiding repairs.

The goal is to kill Arthas!

Raid Night
Wrath of the Lich KingSorry it has been a while since I was able to post any updates, but LoK has been waiting on ICC to be released and continuing to work on Trial of the Grand Crusader (10 player) Progression.

Well tonight we finally did it. After switching between 2 healers and then 3 healers and back and forth, we finally got the right combo and cleared Trial of the Grand Crusader (10 player) as well as getting the "A Tribute to Skill" achievement.

"OT DOWN, JACK PICK UP THE ADS QUICK!!" "GIVE IT EVERYTHING YOU"VE GOT!!""YEAH!!!!!!!"

It was a great night tonight to finally clear this thing to cap off ToGC and get us ready to start downing content in ICC very soon.

LoK Guild Member Spotlight: TURBOJACK!!
Legacy Of Khan NewsSo for our first monthly guild member spotlight, the choice was obvious. On what we will consider his main, Turbojack and his 6 other level 80 toons serve as our guild's main raid leader. He currently leads 4 10 ToC, 1 25 ToC, 1 10 H ToC, 1 25 Ony, and typically a VOA or two as well each week for us. More than that he serves this country as a marine. I had the opportunity to interview him as this month's choice.

Thatguyd: Tell us a little about yourself.
Turbojack: I am a 32 year old male. I grew up in Oak Ridge, Tennessee (hence my affection for Tennessee Tea, Jack Daniel's Whiskey). I graduated from Vanderbilt University in 1999 and joined the Marine Corps. I was promoted to Major on 1 Sept, 2009. I have completed 5 deployments, 4 of them to Iraq. I was married in May of 2007. We have a baby on the way.

Thatguyd: How long have you been playing WoW?
Turbojack: I honestly started playing WoW the day it came out back in November of 2004. My very first buttons were hit on an Orc warrior. Everyone was running around waiting for a lvl 3 mob to spawn. I then started a pally (a realm transfer and name change later became Turbojack). While deployed to Iraq from Mar 05 to Mar 06, my main was Jackdanielz, a human warrior. Some guy named Trebria invited me to a guild when I was in Elwynn Forest and gave me like 10 gold to join a guild. I couldn't figure out what the green chat was or who those people were. I thought the game was over when you hit 60. I showed up in greens to Molten Core and got kicked from ZG because I couldn't tank the raptor. That burned me to gear up in UBRS and start my own raids.

Thatguyd: What was your favorite memory/moment in WoW?
Turbojack: There are many: getting the Quel Serrar finished by Onyxia, raiding BWL, doing hellfire citadel 5 man runs the day the BC expansion came out, etc.

Thatguyd: If that wasn't with the guild, what was your favorite memory/moment with the guild in WoW?
Turbojack: I have to say clearing 10 Trial was very satisfying because our guild has really survived the ups (25 Naxx) and the downs (25 Uld) over the years and is still around downing bosses and clearing content.

Thatguyd: What's your favorite instance and why?
Turbojack: I used to love Scholomance on my warrior at 60 - lots of boss fights and lots of slightly hidden things that reward ppl who know the instance well (and it dropped the deathbone set). BWL was my favorite 40 man raid - it was so intense and we had graduated from Molten Core. I got so sick of it, but I have to mention Karazhan. Dazedwarrior quit. Baddream/Depth/Term took over as raid leader for a while, and Krellen/Coombs did some leading. But there were many months in BC where LoK barely raided at all. I hosted Sunday Kara raids every Sunday for over a year, and that's where I would get a character to 80, fully gear it in Kara epics, then move on to the next character (that's what started my goal of having an 80 of every class and type that could keep up with almost anyone). It kept the guild from being one where only four ppl were on when you logged on.

Thatguyd: What's the most challenging thing about being a raid leader?
Turbojack: Drama. Part of playing a video game is that there is a lot of selfishness and immaturity. People whine for raid spots, loot, etc. Sure, I like progressing my character, but downing a boss efficiently is ten times more satisfying than the loot that drops. Weeks before an expansion came out where a lvl 71 green quest reward was going to be better than the lvl 70 epic, people were at each other's throats for the loot - that just sickens me. I have a hard time with some things. Like people getting geared up by LoK, then leaving. Being a commanding officer for years now, ppl questioning my orders is a very difficult thing to stomach. It is also frustrating because if I'm online, I'm sacrificing family time, work time, or personal time. There are other ppl who don't take the game as seriously as I do, so they don't prepare, or maximize their performance. I am so focused when I am online to get shit done, other people don't have that or don't play that way.

Thatguyd: What's the most rewarding thing about being a raid leader?
Turbojack: I love to lead. It's who I am. I love that it requires teamwork to accomplish a goal. I don't play on a baseball team or football team, but I have a Warcraft raiding team. It is very difficult pulling 25 people together from across the world and get them to execute a concept together. But when it works, it is very exciting.

Thatguyd: How does a guy who serves in our military and plays with real weapons, find entertainment in a fantasy world?
Turbojack: What first hooked me was the sense of accomplishment and progression that WoW gives. Then the teamwork of raiding amplified the experience (I wish 95% of the time I was online was spent raiding). Honestly, I often have turned to WoW for escape. I have dealt with some tremendous stress. I have survived three improvised explosive device attacks on my vehicle, I have been shot at, I have been responsible for men's lives, I have made life and death decisions, I have made decisions about who will go free and who will go rot in an Iraqi prison, etc.

Thatguyd: What is one thing that each of our guildies could do to make us better in raids?
Turbojack: I love ppl that are team players. I love it when people prepare through research and offer a well thought-out suggestion. I love it when people do everything they can to maximize their spec and their rotation. If you research, show up, and give it your best, you will succeed.

Here are some snapspots of Jack in current and upcoming raid instances on his 7 toons.

Raid Night
Wrath of the Lich KingGOOD MORNING LOK!  Last night we ventured back into the Trial of the Grand Crusader (10 player) to continue the awesome progress we have been making with the new content.  We burned through Northrend Beasts and Lord Jaraxxus pretty quick which set us up to start learning the remaining fights.   After switching out Jack's pally tank for his priest with mass dispel we downed the Faction Champions.  The Twin Valkyr were next...

"If we don't get the shield down in time, they heal 50%" "Boss is at 47%, special ability soon!"  "Everyone on the dark boss, get that shield down!"  "Wow, the boss now has 97% health"  "Wipe it!"

After a couple attempts we got them down.  We were able to get a few attempts in on Anub before we hit the end of our raid time, but we are confident we will clear Trial of the Grand Crusader (10 player) this week!!

Raid Night
Wrath of the Lich KingSince we cleared 25 Anub Tuesday night, it freed up tonight to focus on Trial of the Grand Crusader (10 player). After a quick rundown of the differences between normal and heroic modes we were off. Out come the Northrend Beasts....One Shot! That really got the tempo set right as we started on Lord Jaraxxus.

"GET THAT PORTAL DOWN!!" "GET THAT VOLCANO DOWN!!"

After a couple attempts we were able to pull it together and down him. We started on Faction Champs but ran out of raid time for the night. Can't wait to put more raid time into them and keep the guild progression going. It's a great time to be a part of Legacy of Khan, if you aren't a member, you should be!!

Raid Night
Wrath of the Lich KingTonight marked our guild’s 3rd raid attempt on Anub for Trial of the Crusader (25 player). Tuesday he was released, it bugged for us, so our first attempt was last Sunday. All that to say that it only took us one week to burn down the final boss and clear the instance.

“Burn him down!! Blow every cool down you have!” “BURN, BURN, BURN!!”

Nothing I love more than all at once seeing 25 achievements scroll through guild chat “Call of the Crusade (25 player)”. And then there is also the celebratory screaming that follows in vent.

Great Job LoK!! Let’s keep the momentum moving!
